Summary: Duke is a naturally big six year old Yellow Lab who also had his share of extra pounds. Duke loved running outdoors as well as anything involving water so his workout plan consisted of a heavy dose of hiking, biking, and the underwater treadmill. Following the recommending workout regimen as described in the Action Plan, Duke lost 14% of his body weight in just three months (over a pound per week!), and is now within the ideal weight range for his breed.
Quote from family: "I didn't realize how melancholy Duke had become. His weight problem made him not want to run or even play with the family, which just lead to more weight. He's now back to his former amazing self, always wagging his tail and always ready and willing to participate in whatever we have planned.”

Summary: Roxy is a 10 year old Cocker Spaniel who had been slowly gaining weight her entire life. Even after reducing the amount of food she ate and switching to a 'senior' type food, she still continued to gain weight, which is common among older dogs as their metabolism slows. Upon receiving a positive check-up from the vet, Roxy was cleared to begin her new exercise regimen. We started slowly by simply adding to what she already did. Instead of two 30-minute walks per day, she got three 30-minute walks per day. Then two 30-minute walks, one 25-minute walk, and one five-minute run. The time of the 3rd walk was slowly reduced while the time of the run was slowly increased. We also used the balance ball to build up her muscle in her legs, abs, and back. Within six weeks Roxy was able to jog for a full 20 minutes. We then added additional exercises such as hiking, park activities, and the underwater treadmill to give her a complete cross-training routine. In six months Roxy lost 17% of her body weight and is now perfectly in the middle of her breeds weight range.
Quote from family: "My old girl doesn't act old anymore. I am actually able to feed her more now, which is great because she doesn't beg or cry for food and she still stays the same weight because of the calories burned off during her exercises.”

Summary: Sunshine is a three year Golden Retriever who despite her youth, was already at the top of the appropriate weight range for her breed. Her owners and vet did an excellent job recognizing her weight problem before it lead to other health or behavior issues. Because of her youth, general good health, and behavior, we were able to increase her workload quickly and give her a variety of exercises which challenged her physically and mentally. Her workout plan consisted of running, hiking, biking, pawlates, underwater treadmill, cart pulling, and park activities. In just 10 weeks Sunshine lost 12% of her body weight and is now in 'perfect condition' according to her vet.
Quote from family: "We love Sunshine so much and want her to be as healthy as possible. Because we both work, we aren't able to exercise her as much as she probably needs, so we are so happy and thankful we found Pant & Wag.”
